Zach Samton will moderate the panel “The Maturity Wall: Five Years Post-COVID and the Refinancing Reckoning” at the IMN Distressed CRE Forum. The session will explore what will happen when $1.2 trillion in CRE debt comes due, how lenders are triaging maturing loans, the differences between relationship, CMBS, and non-bank lenders, common recapitalization structures used to bridge the refinancing gap, and the impact of valuation resets on refinance proceeds and LTV thresholds. The panelists will also discuss how borrowers are navigating capital stack gaps, viable refinancing options, and the role of rescue capital, extensions, and assets sales in avoiding default, and answer if this maturity wave is likely to trigger a broader wave of distress, or if it will be absorbed through restructuring.
