2025 Was A Policy Year Like No Other For Immigration Attys

Scott Bettridge was quoted in a Law360 article discussing rapid changes to U.S. policy in 2025 and their impact on the daily practice of immigration attorneys. Many employers are seeking guidance on issues such as immigration compliance and enforcement, as well as the $100,000 fee for H1-B petitions. Routine adjudications have been delayed by increased requests for evidence, while the broad loss of work authorization and Trump’s travel ban have further complicated the landscape. Across the board, immigration attorneys’ counsel is in high demand.

Scott noted that recent worksite raids and I-9 audits have prompted employers to identify who is on their payroll and formalize ICE response plans, saying, “Now they're nervous and scared — they weren't nervous before.” He also reported an uptick in adjudication requests for evidence disputing digital signatures, explaining, “we're having to have clients physically sign forms in blue ink and return those back to us to then file.” Finally, he addressed the impact of litigation over TPS and parole terminations on his clients, saying "I have employers who lost 50% of their work force.”
