Ken Fisher is quoted in The Real Deal’s article responding to a call for large-scale housing development ideas in New York City. His suggestion expanded on the New York Building Congress’ rezoning proposal to allow housing along the route of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) Interborough Express (IBX). Ken called for the Empire State Development, New York’s chief economic development agency, to use a general project plan (GPP), rather than separate rezonings. “In addition to being comprehensive and faster, a GPP could allow revenue sharing with the MTA, which zoning can’t,” said Ken. Housing along the IBX route will be the subject of a panel discussion in which Ken will speak, titled “Unlocking Opportunities for Transit-Oriented Development Around the IBX.”
