U.S. Bribery Enforcement May Be Back, But Proof Will Come in Caseload, Observers Say [MLex]

Nicole Sprinzen, vice chair of the White Collar Defense & Investigations practice, spoke with MLex about the U.S. Justice Department’s new guidance for investigations and enforcement of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, released on June 10, 2025. Although the new directive signals the resumption of foreign bribery prosecutions, “the cases that get brought within the next six months that start to build on the guidance, and build on the policies, could tell us what it means,” Nicole said, adding that “the US will decide more readily whether we believe we [or foreign regulators] are the best enforcement authority in a case.”
