Jose L. Bustillos focuses his practice on strategic risk management, complex litigation, and regulatory compliance. He represents clients in a wide range of civil disputes, including, New York Labor Law/construction accidents, premise liability actions, motor vehicle accidents, No-Fault arbitration claims, and other general liability matters. His clients include private individuals, insurers, property owners, commercial tenants, franchisees, developers, general contractors and trade subcontractors, transportation and fleet operators, and municipal entities. He also has experience defending hospitals and health care professionals in medical malpractice actions.
Fluent in Spanish, Jose advises clients in Latin America on internal investigations, U.S. regulatory developments, as well as other matters involving cross-border exposure.
Jose earned his undergraduate degree in economics and history from the University of Oregon and his J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School, where he received the Public Interest Law Project Award for his leadership in fundraising initiatives. During law school, he clerked for the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office and for Metro Regional Government in Portland, Oregon, gaining firsthand experience in public-sector litigation and regulatory enforcement.
