Joel helps clients navigate a wide variety of matters, from construction defect and construction accidents to cyber breach-related claims, including class actions and actions to recoup client’s funds after breaches, foodborne illness matters, motor vehicle accidents, and general liability matters. He has deep experience in all aspects of trial preparation and trying cases to verdict. He also skillfully negotiates settlement agreements when doing so is in the best interest of his client. He also acts as defense liaison counsel in one of the largest cyber breach cases pending in the county, involving over 13 million people.
Joel assists his clients by analyzing liability and damages; conducting and defending depositions; drafting and arguing pleadings, motions, and appeals; interpreting contracts and relevant law; engaging in all aspects of trial preparation; conducting jury selection and trials; and negotiating settlements.
Prior to joining the firm, Joel was a partner at a Northeast regional firm, where he oversaw a team of attorneys and paralegals. Joel earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his law degree from Hofstra University School of Law. During law school, he interned with the New York City Law Department.
Joel is also an active participant in Cozen O'Connor’s pro bono initiatives, handling matters ranging from transactions to immigration. Additionally, he has been involved in the Frozen Apple, a yearly charity ice hockey event in New York City for the insurance industry, with proceeds directly benefiting Ice Hockey In Harlem. For the past 10 years, Joel has been involved in both the organization and in playing in the ice hockey game.
