New Law Imposes Strict Timelines for Cooperative Transfer Approvals in NYC

Leni Morrison Cumins, Shayne Messing, and Jamie L. Ansorge discuss a new New York City law mandating that cooperative boards with more than 10 units adhere to strict standardized application procedures and specific deadlines.

Shayne focuses her practice on assisting boards of managers of condominiums and boards of directors of cooperatives with governance and building operations. She also has experience representing cooperative and condominium boards in litigations against unit owners or shareholders for noncompliance with governing documents.

Shayne earned her bachelor’s degree from The Pennsylvania State University and her J.D. from New York Law School. During her studies, she interned with New York Law School’s Housing Rights Clinic, where she was a student-attorney providing representation to individuals in Housing Court.
