Texas Supreme Court Narrows Employer Liability and Explains Standard for Proximate Cause [Alert]

Steven Moreno discusses the Texas Supreme Court's decision to overturn an $89 million verdict in Werner Enterprises, Inc. v. Blake, which raises the bar for proving proximate cause in negligence and employer liability cases.

Steven has experience in commercial litigation, construction defect, personal injury (including catastrophic injury and wrongful death), premises liability, products liability, and automotive and trucking matters. He is experienced in all aspects of defense litigation, including drafting pleadings, propounding and answering discovery requests, conducting and defending depositions, fact and expert witness preparation, site inspection, motions practice, and attending hearings, mediations, and settlements.

Before joining Cozen O'Connor, Steven was an associate with a national litigation firm based in Houston, Texas. He earned his B.S. in criminal justice from the University of Houston and his J.D. from the South Texas College of Law, Houston. During law school, he worked as a law clerk, where he gained experience performing legal research, drafting memoranda, and preparing motions and written discovery. Earlier in his career, Steven spent six years as a professional heavyweight boxer.
