Jim represents businesses, insurers, and construction industry clients in complex commercial litigation, construction litigation, premises liability, professional liability, insurance coverage, and business disputes.
Jim has extensive experience handling all stages of litigation, including trial, arbitration, mediation, and depositions. He regularly represents developers, contractors, architects, engineers, real estate professionals, and other construction industry participants in construction defect, contract, professional liability, and risk transfer disputes.
In addition to his litigation practice, Jim serves as outside general counsel to closely held businesses, providing strategic legal and business advice, including risk management, contract negotiation, leases, credit agreements, and other transactional matters. Earlier in his career, he advised commercial real estate clients on acquisitions, sales, financing, construction, and development projects and represented clients in more than 2,000 commercial real estate transactions.
Before joining Cozen O’Connor, Jim was counsel with another Am Law 100 firm and previously served as associate general counsel for an insurance firm. Jim earned his J.D. from the University of Dayton School of Law and his B.S. in Economics, with a minor in International Business, from The Pennsylvania State University Smeal College of Business. He is also a certified arbitrator in Philadelphia’s Compulsory Arbitration Program.
