Michael R. Riss

Michael R. Riss represents employers in all aspects of labor and employment law. As a versatile litigator, his practice encompasses the defense of claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, disability accommodation, ADA violations, wage and hour compliance, and wrongful discharge under federal, state, and local laws.

Mike regularly represents clients before state and federal courts, as well as administrative agencies such as the EEOC, IDHR, and DOL. Beyond litigation, he provides day-to-day counseling to employers on hiring and termination decisions, workplace investigations, employee handbooks, employment agreements, restrictive covenants, and compliance with wage and hour regulations.

Drawing on his background in corporate and transactional work, Mike also advises closely held businesses and their leadership teams on employment-related aspects of corporate governance, restructurings, and mergers and acquisitions.

Before joining Cozen O’Connor, Mike practiced at a national firm, where he represented corporations in employment, commercial, and general corporate matters.
