Daniel concentrates his practice on construction law and complex commercial litigation matters in state and federal courts throughout the United States. He has experience representing domestic and international general contractors, construction managers, sureties, and other construction professionals in the United States and abroad in negotiation, litigation, arbitration, and mediation of construction and design defect claims, insurance claims, surety bond claims, and related matters. Additionally, he has experience in handling business torts, shareholder disputes, non-compete claims, consumer protection disputes, and health care litigation. Daniel has also assisted clients in handling business divorces stemming from M&A disputes and ancillary issues arising from M&A transactions.
Daniel’s practice also includes representing health care providers in disputes with payors, including defending health care providers with Medicare and Medicaid issues, alleged overpayments, reimbursement suspensions due prepayment review and fraud claims, False Claims Act accusations, Civil Investigative Demands, Anti-Kickback, termination of contracts, and board complaints.
Prior to joining the firm, Daniel was a senior associate with another full-service Am Law 100 firm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. There, he represented clients in a variety of complex litigation matters, including contract disputes, business torts, construction, health care, professional malpractice, insurance coverage, and products liability actions.
Daniel earned his B.A. from the University of Miami and his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law, where he was a member of The University of Miami Business Law Review. While in law school, Daniel served as an intern to the Honorable Justice R. Fred Lewis of the Supreme Court of Florida, as an intern to the Honorable Judge Jose Rodriguez of Florida’s Eleventh Judicial District, and with the 10-20-Life and Traffic Homicide Division of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit in the Office of the State Attorney of Florida. He is a fluent Spanish speaker.
